Our investigation has found that Damsa is one of several companies that the European Union Commission has approved for exporting products to the EU despite being in Moroccan-occupied territory, according to the Western Sahara Resource Watch.

Separately, in 2020, Damsa was where the first positive Covid case was discovered leading to a subsequent outbreak. Damsa was temporarily closed by the Moroccan government “for non-compliance with the health measures” established to address the Covid-19 pandemic.
