We were in contact with Carrefour Group in 2023 regarding our investigation into China’s seafood processing industry. We are contacting Carrefour now regarding our ongoing investigation into aquaculture and the global fishmeal and fish oil industry, which has uncovered an array of industry-wide environmental and human rights concerns. These concerns date from between 2018 and the present, and they pertain to events or conditions on land or at sea.

Carrefour takes this alert very seriously, even though it concerns entities at the fourth level of our supply chain (suppliers of food for shrimp aquaculture).

Upon receipt of this information, Carrefour immediately activated its vigilance protocol:

• Immediate investigation: we have required our direct suppliers, Nueva Pescanova and Labeyrie, to conduct in-depth investigations within their own fishmeal suppliers mentioned in your report.
